Homework Help Program (HHP) SP51 2017
Just last month, the GK JCUS Chapter hosted a one-month volunteer program to tutor local primary school students at Hougang Sheng Hong Student Care Centre (SHSCC). Over a period of 8 sessions, our volunteers engaged the students with academic support as well as fun activities to enhance their interpersonal and interpersonal development. Our primary school Mathematics and Science syllabi are getting more and more challenging! Here's a sample for you:
Two weeks ago, it was our last session with them. It was also after their exam period, so we became 'Santa Claus'; we distributed games-on-paper to each students. There were colouring pages, brain teasers from a compendium, and word search.
It was also a day of student appreciation at SHSCC. Ms Ng, the centre supervisor, led the ceremony by inviting teachers to announce and present prizes to the nominated students.
The students requested us to prepare more word search activities and Pokemon-themed colouring pages on our next round of volunteering session. Yes, we will be hosting another series in July and/or August!
